Portia M. Wood is the founding partner of Wood Legal Group, LLP, established in 2018. Before launching WLG, Portia built a strong litigation foundation — first in criminal law, then in property litigation — giving her a rare combination of courtroom instincts and transactional precision that she brings to every estate plan, trust administration, and probate matter.
Her approach is deeply personal. Portia understands that estate planning isn't just about legal documents — it's about protecting the people you love and ensuring your values are honored. She takes the time to truly understand each client's situation, concerns, and goals before crafting a plan that fits their life.
Portia is also a passionate educator and advocate for building generational wealth in underserved communities. She speaks nationally on topics including estate planning, trust administration, and protecting Black wealth — from webinars to international stages.
Licensed in California and Maryland, Portia also serves clients in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and New York through licensed partner firms in those jurisdictions — bringing the same care and commitment she'd give her own family.
