Terms of Use
Last updated: October 2026. These terms govern this website. If you have signed a Legal Services Agreement with Wood Legal Group, LLP, that agreement governs your legal matter and controls over these terms in any conflict.
1. This website is not legal advice
Everything on this site is educational. Articles, webinars, guides and the Start Here questions are general information, not legal advice. No attorney-client relationship is created by visiting this site, sending us a message or completing a form. That relationship begins only on a signed written engagement agreement.
2. Bar admissions and jurisdiction
Portia M. Wood is admitted to practice law in California and Maryland only. Estate planning services are offered in California and Maryland. Probate, trust administration and conservatorship services are offered in California only. Nothing on this site is an offer to provide legal services anywhere the responsible attorney is not licensed. This site is not directed to anyone outside the United States.
3. Strategy sessions, fees and payments
Strategy sessions are paid sessions. The calendar itself takes no payment. For sessions with a set fee, you are taken to the firm's secure LawPay page to pay right after you book, and your appointment is confirmed once payment is received at least 24 hours before your meeting. For sessions whose fee is quoted, the firm sends a LawPay invoice. You may also pay by Zelle. Where the firm's published policy provides a credit toward engagement fees, that credit applies only when you engage the firm the same day.
Cancellations. A session fee is refundable in full if you cancel with at least 24 hours notice or if the firm cancels. Cancelling or moving an appointment on less than 24 hours notice may incur a fee of $750, the firm's hourly rate for the reserved time.
Payment methods. Payment may be made through LawPay, by Zelle to Portia@woodlegalgroup.com, or by check. A 3% processing fee applies to all credit card payments. No processing charge is ever deducted from funds held in trust for a client. Fees for legal services are governed by your Legal Services Agreement.
4. Use of this website
You may view and print material from this site for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy it for commercial purposes, remove proprietary notices, or attempt to reverse engineer any software on the site.
5. Accuracy and links
Material on this site may not reflect the most recent developments in the law, and we may change it at any time. Links to other sites are provided for convenience and do not imply endorsement.
6. Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
The materials on this site are provided as is, without warranties of any kind. Wood Legal Group, LLP is not liable for damages arising from use of, or inability to use, this site. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, or any duty the firm owes a client under the rules of professional conduct.
7. Accessibility
We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. See our Accessibility Statement.
8. Disputes
Clients with a signed Legal Services Agreement are governed by that agreement, including its arbitration provisions and the right to elect fee arbitration under California Business and Professions Code sections 6200 to 6206. For everyone else, disputes arising from use of this website are governed by California law, in the courts of Los Angeles County, California.

We may revise these terms by posting a new version here.
